I had a very long time girlfriend whose grandmother was nicknamed "Honey". It's a great nickname, but please, please do not name your child this as their given name.
Giving kids silly, bizarre, trendy or just plain made-up names is like giving your child a life sentence. Wherever they go or whatever they do in life, they will carry that name with them. What may sound good today will be a joke 20, 50 and 70 years from now. How can anyone ever take him or her seriously?
I have been on job applicant review committees and I have seen how some people have a bias against them just because they have a "ghetto" or "trailer park" name, before ever meeting these applicants.
If you are at a loss for names, make a list of all your and the father's grandparents, great aunts, etc. names and pick one.
You can call your girl Honey from the day she is born but please don't make that her legal name!

Just think ahead to when she is in the 4th through6th grade, when girls and boys are CRUEL to each other.
Skip further ahead to high school graduation when they call "Honey"! That would be rather humiliating, and skip even further to paging "Dr. Honey" to the ER STAT!
Is that what you really want for your daughter?

A person's name is important, so I would think that Honey may cause your child a lot of grief.

Unless you want guys to think of her as sex material, do not name your child after items one would stick in his mouth, like "honey", "candy", etc. Stripper names are off-limits for your baby. Go to a stripper bar. Make a mental note not to use any of those names, which include ultra-puristic names like "angel", "charity", "cherish", etc.
Get normal.

I think it's a good name, maybe it will make her have a sweet disposition. Really, it's a fine name, it's not weird or anything, it's not common and trendy, plus you like it, so go ahead and name your baby Honey!

honey is so common to be a pet name for everyone. It may get confusing when someone says, "Hey, honey!" and the girl answers only to find that he was talking to his wife, or she was talking to her husband, or one just found it on the shelf and is announcing it. and then there is 'hon' or 'hun',, someone says to her, 'hello, hon' and she wonders how he knows her name.
