Members of my family think that its possible to be addicted to things such as computers and cellular phones. Are they right or wrong ? Have you ever heard of this and do you know anyone with such a problem?

Yes, depending on what you're doing. Computer gaming studies have shown to raise a hormone that addicts you to it (similar to alcohol or drugs). Internet can be compared to this such as blogging, surfing the internet, etc. It could just be an addiction or a hobby that you like. Cell phones are a little harder because perhaps you just really like to chat with your friends (or IM them on a computer). So perhaps you are just addicted to a phone or just like to stay connected.

yes, very addictive, I am addicted to the computer myself, my email is the first thing I check whenever I come home and then I'm up here about the entire time that I am awake, so don't feel bad you're not alone

Take away a teens cellphone and computer, and you have a hysterical, agitated teen. Sounds like an addiction to me.
