Is it because they are owned by the Ford's and they run their football like they run their company. A stock price of 6.86.

Incompetent ownership and even worse, poor front-office management. I mean come on, who in their right mind would sign Scott Mitchell away from Miami after one good season coming off of the bench to be your "franchise" quarterback? Who would do so little to upgrade their talent pool that they managed to run off the best back known to man, Barry Sanders?

They have little discipline and questionable drafts and coaching decisions. They made an okay move by bringing Mike Martz in as Offensive Coordinator, they have 3 1st round WR's and they will be able to air it out against most of the teams in NFC North. They made a huge mistake by letting Joey Harrington go who is a good young QB.

Sorry NFL rules, but players do not go there because of the fact that the city is in shambles, because players do not live in Detroit, they live in the nice suburbs such as Royal Oak, or Novi, or maybe Northville (upscale cities near Detroit). They don't go there because they suck.

um bacially the city is a black hole it was nice in the 60s but now its just an eye sore on the rest of the N.F.L crime is horriable, its very dangerous to walk at night!!!poor restaurants the economy is in shambles, and the governor does nothing.so why would premier free agents want to play there? they dont is why they will suck......and a quality qb wouldnt hurt but the way they draft thats going to be impossiable since no free agents will go there.

Lack of discipline and Matt Millen. He finally got rid of Joey though and they may go 8-8 this year with Kitna, Martz.

The Lions always make money, and that is what is important to the owners.

I don't know about the pre-Carmen Policy days, but now you don't have to look very deeply to see what the problem is.
