I am asking becasue i am in New york city and we are having a heat wave and with the heat wave a lot of blackouts across the city have been happening. I was wondering if it is only New York that gets blackouts when it gets real hot and if so y, y not the south too where it is always hot? I neva hear about blackouts in the south so i was wondering.

I've lived in Texas for oiver 20 years and that's never happened here. Our power grids are built to supply enough power since it is so hot. The power grids in NY and CA aren't built to withstand everyone running their A/C 24/7.

I live in Texas and it got hot earlier than usual. So in April they had what they called rolling brownouts. There were blackouts in certain areas for 15 minutes at a time to help conserve energy so that we did not have to have blackouts. I also believe that cities have blackouts because they are not prepared for the increase in energy. Since it gets very hot in the south the energy companies (I assume) prepare for the increase in usage.
