When I was little I was afraid of the "Monster in my closet so I closed the door every night. Now even though I'm older and know there is no "monster in the closet I still can't sleep if the closet door is open. Am I strange?

I did, until I read this great book about Monsters (for children) and they explained all (was reading this to my son) and the different types of monsters.. like the ones in the closet - even the ones under the bed! It was so cleverly written, that not only does my son sleep with the closet open, but also has no fear for 'under the bed'.

I took the advice in the book - and they say that monsters in the closet hate night lights, especially the ones shaped as animals - monsters in the closet hate animal night lights.. LOL.. but it worked for my son like a charm!! and now he does not leave socks on the floor, for that entices the under the bed monster to live. Great book!!!

No your not.
People from nearly all cultures throughout history have feared monsters. The weird thing is they all tend to look the same (demons) Just pray and if you understand that god will protect you then you will be safe. Not just from "monsters" but from all evil.

God bless

no you're not really strange. my kids were always afraid of monsters in their room when they were younger so we got a can of *monster-be-gone* spray. we'd spray under their beds, in the corners and in their closets every night at bedtime and then they weren't scared anymore.

note: they had the freshest smelling rooms in the house ;)

I don't think this is strange at all. I'm the same way. I think it is a little bit of a compulsion for me. Just seems to make the room more in "order".

If it is your in basic terms situation (which I doubt), in simple terms have your closet transformed and lighted so which you are going to discover into each little thing of it in any respect cases. otherwise, get a sturdy referral to a psychologist or psychiatrist to confirm what the closet incredibly represents for you. And - no - you're no longer unusual - life is scarey. all of us have those phobias.

LOL no not at all, I have the same thing with my sheets, I believed when I was little that nothing could hurt me if I was completely tucked up in them, and even now I can't stick out and arm or leg even if its boiling.

no sometimes we still carry a little of our childhood fears with us..and although you know in your mind.. you still have that childhood memory... it is a powerful thing.. but try working a little at a time to overcome your fears by looking in your closet before you go to bed and think of all the good things in it.. try putting pretty pictures of good thing around in your closet and hopefully you will start looking at your closet as a positive thing... Good Luck.. :)
