I've got a friend who is suffering from a debilitating disease (RA), and would love to do something special for her/take her a present to cheer her up. Any great ideas (beyond cookies, flowers, and balloons)? Thanks for your help!

I think the best gift you can give her is your ear....let her talk and lend her your ear. Make the convo all about her and what she is going through. Talking always helps. I know when Im down I need someone to just listen, not always put in their opinion.

Well, I don't know what RA is. So I am not sure of how to address this question.

If she has limatations and has to be in the house then do "queen for the day" You know, where you just pamper the heck out of her!.
You do a day of beauty( get someone that can do her hair,make-up,feet,nails,facial,etc)
Next, you do a luncheon or dinner. You can either take her out or order something from a favorite place and have it delivered.

You can inprovise on this any way you want. I'm just trying to give you some ideas here.

Bless her, and your heart for being such a wonderful friend to her. Just you being there for her, whenever she needs you...or doesn't need you..is a wonderful gift for her. Everyone else, is probably tuning her out from hearing about her problems. They may seem like they are concerned, but it is short lived, and tiresome for them, and they couldn't be bothered, because it doesn't affect them personally. If you could possible afford a small w/e get away...where you know she would really enjoy. And if that isn't possible because of her disease, how about brining it to her?....like Hawaii for instance.....give her a Hawaiin lual ( spelling?) in her room.....make it look and feel like she is in Hawaii...complete with lays..and music.....and food....etc....you get the picture...bring her "dream TO HER ! She must've mentioned over your friendship, different things, she wished she could do...or have...you'll have to tax your brain, and try to come up with something. Or ask her family, what she really loved to do, before she became ill.....something, she probably thinks she can't do anymore...but with YOUR help, she can. Good luck to you and your friend...we should ALL be so lucky to have a friend like you !

Take her to dinner, or a walk in the park, a concert, a movie? Something that isn't inside and unique, just make her feel very special and that no matter what you're there for her, let her know that she's got a friend to support her! Best of Luck! ~V.J.~

What does she like? Write a list of all her favorite things, anything that makes her smile and plan a day around that.

Get some fun hats, find some crafts to make, paint each others faces, watch bad movies and make fun of them, laugh, gossip, just have fun with her
