Many people don't know things about Elvis Presley, like, he had a great sense of humor and he was a pretty good guitar player.

When Elvis was popular, I was listening to Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin. I didn't come to appreciate his talent until much later. Even though I saw it way after 1968, in my opinion, there IS no better Elvis than the '68 Comeback Special. He was calm, he was funny, he was unrehearsed, he was unplugged, and he was unbelievably sexy. Can you imagine being able to sit two feet from today's rock idols?

Any Elvis fans out there agree?

I agree..and you are totally right about him being a decent guitar player. If you listen to his early Sun Recordings you can hear him playing rhythm. As he got more popular his guitar got washed out. Johnny Cash even mentions Elvis' great rhythm guitar playin in his autobiography "CASH"

Elvis was awesome!

I remember listening to Elvis albums the week after he died...I was 5!

Also, If you've never been to Graceland it's worth the trip. It's like walking back in time.

Elvis was also a good racquetball player. He had one on the grounds at Graceland.

I agree. I'm not a big Elvis fan myself, but I think anyone can appreciate the fact that he was one of a kind. How many people do you know that still have fans mourning them 30 years or more after their death? Besides that, everyone has heard of him, etc. He was someone that people could relate to, and because of moments like you mentioned, people felt a connection to him.

Elvis was such an incredible person - amazing performer. We saw him in concert not too long before he passed away and it was a wonderful experience. Ticket agent told us he was just a fat man walking around on stage - I wanted to go home. That would have been a HUGE mistake! Thanks Elvis for the memories! We also tried to see Graceland once but unable to get in - I forget why (but I was there)
