Please Help...?

Question

My parents are tyrants. I am of the legal age 18 to move out yet they don't consider me an adult or even equal human to anyone else. I have a friend in Florida who is in the same position and we're going to move in to an apartment and get jobs to support it and what not. I keep trying to get down there and my parents force me to stay. They imprison me here. I'm 18 I should be legally able to leave.

Is there a way I can get the hell out of here? I want to go to the cops but I just don't know. I'm about the point of killing myself because I can stand this ****. My mother wants me to be depressed just so SHE can be happy and my father is an ignorant tyrant who doesn't care about the family, just himself and his job.

I hate this place and I can stay here but I have no way of getting out without them trying to force me to stay. It's like they want me to kill myself. What can I do? Is there anything the police can do?

I've told them, but they don't listen to me. They don't want to accept that I've grown up and that i have my own feelings and personality. It's like Shallow Hal they think I'm an extension of them like some car or painting or company.

I'm 18 I'm not a minor, so if I get emancipated I just have to give myself permission? I know if you're a minor you need parents permission but I'm no minor. I'm far more responsable than my parents will ever be in 20 years from now.

Well, if you are 18, and have your own car. Pack your stuff and go. They can't MAKE you stay unless they have you declared incompetent in a court. If they call the police, then they are just going to be told, hey, he's 18, sorry.

If you don't have your own car. Buy a bus ticket. If you don't have your own money, go get a job and hush up till you get the money you need, nod and smile a lot at the folks, and THEN leave.

ok, youre 18, and u dont have to listen to a word your parents say now cause your of legal age now. u just need to pack up your things and leave. what r your parents gonna do? lock u in a closet and throw away the key? i dont think so. youre now an adult and u can now legally make your own choices. your parents are just trying to protect u from the outside world, which is normal. u really need to talk to them and if they are still against u leaving just leave anyway. eventually your parents will understand.

do you have a mental disability? like autism in some form? if not then there is no reason why you cant leave the house if your 18. pack your clothes and leave. and dont take her crying as an excuse to stay. you need to get out on your own and spread your wings and try to fly. are you an only child? are you the only boy? well, that has a lot to do with it. but you need to tell mom that you need to live your life and make your own choices and you want to leave now.

Are they tying you to the bed? Boarding up all the doors so you cant leave? I don't get how a grown guy cant leave his own house...you walk the f*ck out the front door! You must give in to your mothers guilt trips..that's what you need to get yourself over! if you need to leave so bad then it wouldn't bother you at all. Sorry - if you're 18 I don't see how they are "forcing" you to stay unless they have bound and gagged....in which case you are being held captive. Just walk out..if you must - tell them you are going to the store when in reality you are leaving. I don't know - if you are 18 there is nothing keeping you there. Unless you are PHYSICALLY being forced to stay - you have no problem
