I have beautiful leaves, male and female flowers on my plants, but no pumpkins. I see some ants on the plants. Could this be the cause of my problem?
I also notice a white powdery substance on the leaves. Also, what about the excessive heat we've been having. What's my problem?

I HAVE HAD PUMPKINS FOR YEARS AND YOU SHOULD HAVE LITTLE PUMPKINS SET ON NOW. THE WHITE STUFF IS POWDERY MILDEW. YOU CAN REMOVE THE BAD SPOTS AND BE CAREFUL WATERING AS NOT TO GET MUCH ON THE LEAVES, THAT WILL CAUSE A LOT OF HUMIDITY WHICH MAKES IT WORSE. ALSO, REMOVING EXCESSIVE GROWTH WILL GIVE THE PLANTS MORE AIR CIRCULATION AND PREVENT IT. THERE ARE ALSO COMMERCIAL FUNGICIDES TO HELP CONTROL MILDEW. USUALLY THE FIRST FLOWERS TO COME ARE MALE SO MAYBE THAT'S WHERE YOUR PLANTS ARE AT NOW SO A LITTLE TIME MAY BE THE SOLUTION. IF YOU WANTED TO DO THE POLLINATION YOURSELF YOU COULD BUT IF YOU HAVE BEES AND BUGS THEY SHOULD BE THE ONES DOING THE JOB. GOOD LUCK, HOPE THIS HELPS A LITTLE.

This time of year you won't see pumpkins yet. You should have the orange blossoms though (which are very good fried). After the blossoms then you will start to see little green pumpkins. The white powdery substance on the leaves aren't a problem. I don't remember what it is but we get that sometimes and it's never caused a problem. Ants won't hurt the plants either. When we get a lot of ants on our plants I just water the plants really well. It just washes them off but at least they're watered too. That brings me to my final point; with this heat, the main thing to remember is to make sure they have enough water. If the edges of the leaves are just starting to turn brown, it's definitely time to water them. Once they get like that you can even set a sprinkler on them and leave it on all night. NEVER water during the hottest and sunniest part of the day. Always water any outdoor plants either early morning or evening. By doing that you won't fry them. Hope I've been some help.

Powdery substance sounds like a fungus. Get an anti fungicide and apply it and that should take care of that one. Ants will not normally hurt them but if you do not get enough water to them, that will keep them from producing. If you find there are no fruits in a week or so, try doing a fertilization yourself by just putting your finger into each flower and then going to the next and next. That will take the pollen and share it with the other blooms. If it is too hot, that could be a good reason that they are not pollinating too. Sometimes if you don't get the water it needs in a hot situation, they will not produce. Be sure to water well.
