amazingly different - think what life was like in 1906 in comparisiin to today, and technological advances are happening a 1000 fold now

nothing will be the same, from what 'car' you drive, what it's poewred by, how you drive it - the steering wheel will be gone, probably

it's mind boggling how different

18 things I anticipate will occur by the year 2106:

1. World Population: 30 Billion
2. World Power: Still the United States
3. Country Still Whining about this: France
4. Dow Jones: will close down 250 points at 89,321
5. Average Life Expectancy: 70
6. Actual 30 minute TV shows will last 3 hours (other 2 hours 30 minutes would be commercials)
7. There will be one currency used throughout the entire world to eliminate foreign currency loss.
8. Taiwan will be like China's gigantic Alcatrazz (an island prison for all the bad Chinese) after they finally conquer Taiwan and destroy the entire country's infrastructure in a hostile colonization takeover.
9. The middle east will be a toxic waste site.
Israel will make significant revenues in the management of these wastes.
10. Antarctica will be an ocean.
Greenland will be renamed to "Blueland" and will be the size of Rhode Island
11. In 300 more years, evolution will see penguins flying.
12. Skunks will be extinct.
13. A Janitor will make $56/hour
14. Minimum wage will be $40/hour
15.A Snicker's bar will cost $15
16. A Movie $40
17. President of the USA: Milton Kennedy Jr.
and lastly:

I wonder about that too. Will there have been a nuclear war by then? Will medicine have advanced enough so that people do not die any more? Will there still be a United States of America then? Its anybody's guess. Anything could happen. 1903 was the first motorized flight and the first radio transmission across the Atlantic--little news stories at the time, nobody paid much attention, but how they changed the world. Somebody may be working on something right now that will make the world unrecognizable by 2106, you just don't know, but it is fun to speculate.

There will be a war between the U.S and England over who gets the last of the land with the newly found gasoline alternitive. Nuclear power will be used but the U.S will screw up on the way to bombing England and actually drop the bombs in the Atlantic. A huge tsunami will result (2105) and by 2106 the damage will be clearing up. During this year a scientist will invent an easy to use, everyday, household object that administers the correct amount of nutrition, calories, and more into the human body through a tube into the arm while still satisfying all taste buds. Flying cars will be the main source of transportation. Ummm... my sister is having a pyschic overload and is getting very confused. I have to go. Thank you for reading my very valid information

Following current international events, I deduce that by 2106 the world will be completely tri-polerized in three groups. A Chinese Hegemony, an Arabic & Muslim Coalition, and a United States and European Alliance, for some reason I cannot deduce I fear that Latin America, Russia, Africa, and South Asia and the Polynesian Islands will be the focus of international politics. I also believe that by then United States and China will be competing for resources in Antartica. Austrailia will remain neutral but ready.

Lol, to be honest I seriously have no clue :P

I suspect it will be not too much different from today.

In 1969 we 'went to the moon'.

In the 70's we were all talking about 'the year 2000' - we'd all be wearing silver jumpsuits, holidaying on the moon, and everything would be automated.

In the 80's, we wore our silver jumpsuits in preparation for the 'space age'.

The 90's dawned and there was much discussion about whether there actually WAS a moon landing!

So, basicaly, life goes on, and what is - is!

When you die you die; and in 2106 we are not going to be here.........wonder if yahoo answers will be here then?!

I don't know, but if we're not careful, then there may be no human beings around then to tell anyone about it.

Or maybe civilization will have collapsed, and there will be very few people around, and none of them may have the time or inclination to keep records.

Or maybe China will be the major global power, and the USA will be some little, backwards, has-been country.

Or maybe the extremist religious people will attempt to bring on their own versions of Armageddon (because, "God told me to do it!"), and the entire world wil be embroiled in a war between Christians and Muslims for world domination, and everything will be in "The Dark Ages, Part Deux."

It's funny, isn't it, that all of my visions of what may come to be in 100 years are so negative? But I can't help it: Everywhere I look, it only confirms my cynical outlook on the world.

"The Hundred-Year Language

April 2003

(This essay is derived from a keynote talk at PyCon 2003.)

It's hard to predict what life will be like in a hundred years. There are only a few things we can say with certainty. We know that everyone will drive flying cars, that zoning laws will be relaxed to allow buildings hundreds of stories tall, that it will be dark most of the time, and that women will all be trained in the martial arts. Here I want to zoom in on one detail of this picture. What kind of programming language will they use to write the software controlling those flying cars

The Bush dynasty will be nearing its end. President Weevil G. Bush will have attacked Pennsylvania for casting more than 100 votes against him (a sure sign of treason and of a terrorist presence). A constitutional amendment will be enacted that defines possession of intelligence to be a capitol crime. There will be no revolution, the economy and the infrastructure will merely collapse. Heavy metal bands will take over the government. The rest of the world will breathe a sigh of relief.

The ozone layer will have depleted, and we will have to stay in our houses or wear protective suits 24/7! Cars will be airbourne because of too much traffic on the roads. The polar ice caps will have melted resulting in some places disappearing (venice for example, coastlines etc). Summers will be unbearably hot, the winters arctic like. Sorry I'm a pessimist! I'm sure it will be great apart from all that!
