Vet gave my cat Frontline. Not sure how he got fleas because he is an indoor cat. Possibly the owners before us.

A flea bomb is great but you'll continue to bring them in on your clothing and shoes if you dont also treat the outside. Most pet stores will carry treatment for yards and if you have an animal (yes you can get fleas in your house w/o owning pets) make sure you treat them too. A vet or groomer could give a flea bath and treat w/ frontline while you set the fleas bomb off and treat your yard. Continue using the frontline year round depending on where you live.

Bleach won't work. Use a flea bomb like was already mentioned. Follow the directions carefully so you don't blow up the house.

Kitty could have gotten a flea at the Vet's office.

Sooooooooooooo hard to get rid of...but as others said...flea bomb the whole place...make sure you do every room - even rooms you have not found fleas in...cover cabinet doors, etc...and you and kitty go stay somewhere else one night...big clean up the next day - but should work...though I did have to do it twice one time years ago when I had a couple of kitties with the same problem...it took care of it the second time around. (no home remedy will work).

If you fog the place, vacuum the carpet and put the bag in the freezer for a few hours it will kill any eggs that might still be living, then throw out. If you don't have kids that crawl on the floor take some cevene(spelling???) dust that they sell in the garden department and sprinkle a line around the edges of your room, and you can also put on the ground around the edge of your house, it kills them off.

Flea bomb it. If you have carpets, they make a powder substance you can shake into the carpet. Go to your local petstore and see what they have. I do not recommend bleach.

BTW, they should be living in your carpet if anywhere. They need a surface like that to live on. That's why humans don't have them.

moth balls , kills the larva...if your already infested flea bomb the basement then put moth balls where ever kids and pets cannot get to them. if you go anywhere you can end up bringing fleas home on your cloths, that's why I like the moth balls...once clean of the critters no more problems, just refresh every spring.

Sprinkle (liberally) flea powder all over the carpet (assuming you have carpet) and leave it for 24 - 48 hours, then vacuum.

Set off a fogger or two. Makes sure you and your pets are out of the house for a few hours after though. They really work! Cover all dishes and shut all cupboards, even upstairs.

You have to bomb it with flea bomb. But do it twice cuz the first time doesn't kill the eggs. So do it once then wait two weeks and do it again
