You can rent an SUV, which will have higher clearance than your car, but really I wouldn't worry about it, take your cell phone with you and you should be fine, if it were me, I would rent the SUV, just because thoes things are like tanks, take it slow and don't worry...
Its just like driving anywhere else....-smiles-

in a corolla it will be bumpy so your two daughters (or at least the 2 year old) will be upset. As far as it being muddy, unless it has rained consistantly for the past 3 days you should be okay in a corolla. However, for comfort and peace of mind, it may be better to get a 4 wheel drive vehicle

yeah it would be much more beneficial if you could rent another vehicle that was bigger and make sure it runs SMOOTHLY. get the gas filled up before you leave. pack some stuff like food incase you cant find any restaurants.
don't worry it will be okay since i drove from New Jersey to Canada and it took 12 hours and for 5 hours it was raining. And don't speed. PLZ dont speed.

I would rent a diffrent vehicle. When ever I need to make a long drive I always rent a car. Prevents me from putting hard miles on my own car plus if I have a breakdown the Rental Company takes care of it.

Yes,I would rent something higher off the ground that was also equipped with 4 wheel drive.I had rather be safe than sorry. If you do not know about the 4 wheel drive, have someone show you how to engage it on the particular model that you rent as it may be different.

if you have the money to do it, I would rent an SUV of some kind since you will traveling on muddy, country roads . . at least this will put you higher off of the ground . . . if anything, you will have better peace of mind that you won't get stuck somewhere with two little girls

Your sorta being vage.... you haven't said if you are having troubles with your car or not, like if it over heats, if your afraid your tires are baulding, if your breaks need to be changed... If your car runs ok, and you have no problems, I would get my oil changed and get atleast one quart for back up just in case, make sure my tires are aired up (preasure at least 30 and no more than 35). Make sure you have a spare tire either in your trunk under your carpet with a jack and a tire wrench for your bolts, if your takes a key, make sure you have it, have your breaks checked and all your lights checked (when you have your oil changed they will do all this at Express Lube (if you have one where you live) and they won't check the breaks though, and make sure you have a full tank of gas, I know you may not have over heating issues but it doesn't hurt to put a gallon or two of water in the trunk with your back up oil, and make sure you take your cell phone, if you don't have one, buy one from Walmart before you go, one of the pre-paid phones, you can get one for as low as $35.00. Load up yourself and children, making sure you got plenty of sleep the night before, and enjoy your trip to your parents... feeling safe and that you have checked all things correctly, if you don't know how to check all of your cars juices..... transmission oil, radiator fluid, break fluid... ect.... then have the guys who are changing your oil for you to do it... most places do anyway..... Have fun on your trip... if you do have major car problems.... and tire problems, then yes.... definitly.... rent a car!!

You have 2-options:
1. get new tires
2. rend a truck (ford explorer)

I have a Honda and a Truck, for the Honda i got special Triple Tred tires which work wonderfully in rain and snow (good all year).
