I'm not sure about current players - but Baseball Reference shows 98 players born in Mexico played major league baseball prior to '06.

It's very hard to answer because, now a days, there are many Mexican or Mexican-American baseball players. I wouldn't forget Fernando Valenzuela that he was one of the greatest picture in baseball history. You can say why many Mexicans love the Dodgers since the days of Fernandomania.
