A little less mature than girls her age, but the girls her age act 18! She was really raked over the coals by the "mean girls" last year, that played a huge roll in her failing, she can do the work, but when you hate to go to school and come home crying all the time......

Wow, 8th grade was a tough year for me. I think it would be pretty tough, but I think you can do it just fine. If you have enough self-conifdence you can make it. Be aware that other might tease you, but you can prepare yourself for these comments in advance. Work hard, know you can do it!!

Its not brutal I mean people make mistakes. People view me as "the smart one" because I never recieved a grade lower than an A in the toughest English classes; but I failed the same math class three times in a row.

It would be tough for a girl or a boy. I think parents need to actively monitor their kids schooling, and try to do something to help, if their kid is failing. If you wait until the end of the year, it's too late. My cousin had to repeat 8th grade. I feel like his parents could have prevented it by taking an active role in his education.

It depends on her personality, but for most I'd say it would be pretty rough. Self concept gets a beating from many angles at that age.
The only exception I could see would be if the school has been a generally very positive place for her and she has strong connections with several teachers and other adults in the school.

I can't think of anything more confidence shattering, except repeating a grade in high school at the same school. At least in this case all the kids in her class will be in high school at (presumably) a different school.

Depends on the girl's wishes. If she it to embarrassed to accept it, don't make her. Now, if you want to punish her, then it might be a good idea. You will not find the answer if you are not specific about her personality.

Quite brutal. But if it's her fault for not doing her homework and/or skipping class and/or not studying.... then she's ~almost~ deserving of it.
