They don't "mean" anything per se, although a rainbow flag is used by the gay rights movement to symbolize diversity.

The colors of the rainbow themselves, however, are an optical phenomenon of white light splitting into light of different wavelengths. The raindrops refract light of different intensity differently, and since red light is more intense than orange light more intense than yellow light, etc., the different-color lights get spread out over a range of angles. What you see as a result is a rainbow of colors.

According to Barney the dinosaur.....

Red is the color of an apple
Orange is the color of an orange
Yellow is a lemon and the wonderful sun, sun, sun
Green its the color of trees and lots of things that grow
and then there's blue for the sky
and purple is a color that's fun, fun, fun
and when you put those colors side-by-side, oh, what do you think you've done.

You made a rainbow and it's a very beautiful one.

there's millions and billions of droplets of evaporated and partly evaporated water in the sky, and each acts like a prism, which, when light is shown through them, like the sky, create all those colors. you end up seeing bands of these droplets having the light shown through at a slightly different angle, and hence the rainbow

Different wavelenghts have different colors. But, if you remember the name Roy G. Biv then you can remember the color of the rainbows, it's a neat memory trick.
R-red
O-orange
Y-yellow
G-green
B-blue
I-indigo
V-violet

Best! to you!

Every color of the rain bow represents an aspect of God's glory. For example, red is significant for the Blood of Christ. Blue represents the exaltedness and anointing of God. Yellow represents the glory of God. Purple represents the royalty and majesticness of God. So on and so on.

Nothing. That's the color spectrum... when you break apart light with a prism, the colors created are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indego, and violet.
