I'm looking for the name of an early 80's kid's show that featured an older, soft spoken, gentleman with a mustache, telling stories. As he'd read the story he'd draw the illustrations in chalk/pastel and alter them as the story progressed. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you :)

Definitely "Books Cover to Cover"

It had the claymation monster that came out of the book and ate the pages of the book. I LOVED that show. Used to watch in the summertime when I wasn't in school when I was younger. I remember one book about these kids who were out in the dark and they had flashlights and they ran into a possum or something like that. Scared the hell out of them.

"I read books from cover to cover....something, something about being a book lover."

Wow...start google-ing that and get a throwback moment with the different episodes.

It could have been Captain Kangaroo. If it was, he had a red jacket on, and he would read a book. He also had a puppet called Mr. Moose and a neighbor called Mr. Greenjeans.
