The sun is farther away, being approxomately 93,000,000 miles (from the website http://www.auburn.edu/cte403/w8ragland.html), and the earth and moon are about 250,000 miles apart (derived from http://www.traipse.com/earth_and_moon/, check out this website). The website just mentioned has a to-scale diagram of how large the moon and earth are compared to each other on a very small scale, then comparing the two's diameter to their distance from each other, so in short if the earth and moon were that size they would be that far apart.
