My fiance has me wondering why they make noise?

because all the air is pressured in it, and when it is popped, all of the tightly packed air is released very rapidly, thus making a forced noise, or "pop".

Different pressures, the pressure inside the balloon is different than outside so the sound is the sound of the pressure equalizing, like your ears pop when you fly in an airplane, just your ear drums are able to equalize without poping themselves.

it's the rushing of one air presure into an area with a lower pressure. same for when a bullet leave the gun, th ebang isn't just from the explosion.
