with my maiden name I used to answer in Spanish so they would use the 1 word they knew to say bye..sorry or whatever.. now I married a Mexican so they assume I speak Spanish so when I pull that trick they already have their spanish speaking employee on there... I try to have fun with them (but I usually think of something good to say afer I hang up) one guy told me I won some prizes for having a checking account and he asked 'would you like to know what you've won" I told him no and he was kind of dumb founded that I wouldn't want to know. I told him i don't have a checking account. I remember one time they said for example "hi this is Jill Smith from.....blah blah" and I said..oh Jill.. it's me Cindy... remember we played soccer together in 4th grade. And she was like I never played soccer..."yeah you did, remember we were the Ladybugs and that one time it was raining and we got all muddy, etc.. so funny to mess with them

What do you mean telemarketers still call you? I put my home phone number and my cell phone number in the do not call list 3 years ago and do not ever get telemarketing calls.

I used to be a telemarketer for political stuff, and if you tell them they have the wrong number, your name will be removed from that list.

Hang up on them while their still yacking away. That should teach them a lesson for calling in the first place!

No...unfortunately, I cannot be mean like that even if it's on the phone. I politely wait for the person to finish saying their first sentence and when I hear a pause in there, I tell them that I am not interested and hang up. Generally, they are very nice and let you go.

I'm very nice to them and get through their pitch at least a little bit before I cut them off and say I'm not interested. I used to be one, so I know it's not a career path that anyone chooses. But it's better than starving. Most of the people I worked with were all doing it so they could get through school, and we had to make a set quota of calls with connects otherwise we were out.

I let them start their little speech, then ask them to hold on while I get a pen to write down the info. I return with one of those hockey horns or boat emergency horns, the ones that have a high shrill sound, put it up to the phone, use it and hang up, screw em, they are'nt supposed to be calling all of us anyway

1. Answer. Talk to them for about 10 seconds. Then say "just a minute please" and walk away from the phone. Don't come back for about 5 minutes. They will be gone.

2. Enter your number into the "do not call registry". Google it if you don't know the phone number.

I tell them to hold on a sec so I can turn down the volume on the TV, I then lay the phone down someplace and pick it up again after about an hour - they have usually given up by then.

Answer if I don't know who it is. Then I hang up on them. The Caller ID sometimes has no name and I'm scared not to answer just in case something bad has happened. So I hang up on them

If I get tricked into answering then I usually just hang up on them once I discover who they really are. I know its mean but I really don't want to listen to them for ten minutes and then have to say no, especially when they are really pushy and don't want to hear you say no. So hanging up on them solves this little dilema.
