Am I alone in thinking that linking the Extension of Tax Relief Act with a minimum wage hike bill is obscene?

Eight million Americans live on $5.15 an hour.

Five, out of a thousand, million dollar estates, will benifit from the Tax Relief Act.

Senate Republicans would only vote on the wage increase if these two bills were attached. Are Americans that blinded by the whims of the rich to not realize that it's not just sweat, but spit, that we are wipping off our faces?

16-21 year olds make up for less than 2% of the 8 million living on minumum wage.

Why can't "burger flippers" earn enough to keep themselves above poverty level?

That's why this time, the Republicans are pushing for this and the Democrats are not. It is definitely obscene to embed legislature in a minimum wage increase bill that will ensure the rich get richer.

First, the key is that most Americans don't care about what goes on in Washington unless it will hurt the directly. So no surprise there was no outrage- most of them don't even vote!!!!

I agree. It is obscene- espeically when people like Bill Gates and Warren Buffet (who would benefit from the estate tax roll back) oppose it, too. There have always been ways to plan your estate so that you minimize taxes- this was just one more way the Congress (which raised it's salary 10 times!!) helps those who help get them elected while fighting over a minimum wage (not a living wage, mind you) that would help many more people who really need it.
