It really depends on wether it is your first time with T-Mobile or not. I beleive there is a $35 activation fee if you are a new costomer and thats to activate your sim card but if you are already a costomer and have just gotten a new phone its free, that is, unless you have changed the number.

I hope that helped.

The activation fee from t-mobile is $35. no fees for sim. If you don't want to pay for it, get one of those phones that gives you cash back so that it will offset the activation fee. I got my t-mobile phone from here: http://www.selectivemobile.com/t-mobile_phones.asp?aid=yh&ref=act They got the best deals on the Internet.

free , free sim, but if you want a good phone you'll have to shill out.T-mobile just doesn't work for me too well . I live in the mitten part of MI near Detroit and when I go up north I get no reception because T-mobile doesn't have towers there. I don't know where you live but I have heard that Nex-tel is better or Cingular because they have more towers across the country. I am stuck w/ T-mobile because I have a 2 yr contract and if I want to get out of it I have to pay $200.00 dollars.

They charged me $35 for the activation. But, they added to my bill, so I didn't have to pay anything initially, when I signed up.
