BUY A BODY PILLOW

2006-08-03 10:14:09 · answer #1 · answered by Penney S 6 · 3 0

A pillow under your bump and one between the legs/thighs is worth a try. Also, your inner body temperature does raise slightly during the last trimester so a fan in hot weather is a must.
Just one other thing to point out: During the last few weeks of pregnancy try not to lie on your back. Occassionally, the weight of the baby puts pressure on the inferior vena cava (a large blood vessel) and this can mean a reduction in blood flow and therefore, a reduction in the oxygen reaching your baby.
I hope this helps. Good luck!

Lay on your left side with the left leg pointing to the bottom of the bed.
Raise the right leg as far as you can and put a pillow under the knee.
Raise the head and shoulders using additional pillows.
Tell husband to stop snoring.

As another registered midwife I agree completely with my collegue. Also from practical knowledge my daughter is 32 weeks pregnant and has found both the 'v' shaped pilliw and the body pillow god sends. I bought hers on Ebay.

I could only sleep in one position, on my side with my top leg bent and my knee and thigh resting on a pillow. Its a lot more comfortable.

I wish I could help, am 36 weeks pregnant and have tried most of these bits of advice you have been given and still cant sleep. Make yourself as tired as possible ( carefully of course) so that you just drop off.
