check on the back side near the firewall, you'll see the wiring harness. Check the harness and make sure that no wires are sticking out of the harness. That year had a bad problem with wires sticking out and rubbing agaist the intake manifold and creating a short to ground for either the injector wire or the map sensor wire.
I also had one where the wire from the computer to the oxygen sensor had a break in the wire and cause the car to run rough.(that was fun to find and fix)
I figured i'd through this stuff out at ya, so hopfully you don't have to spend out alot of money tring to fix it. Hope it helps.

dude, how would acid get on your spark plugs? get a clue!
anyway, I agree with the theory about the exhaust possibility, or possibly a bad coil, computer problem, a sensor, etc. Generally a vacuum leak will cause hard starting and rough running at any temperature, and spark plugs that are bad don't care about temp. either. start the car and put your hand behind the exhaust pipe, you should feel a pulsing of the exhaust, if nothing much comes out, you may need a catalytic converter or muffler. Otherwise, have a mechanic with some diagnostic tools check it out

There is one easy way to see if you have a vacuum leak go to the auto store and get a can off carburetor cleaner or a can of starting fluid and with engine running spray(be careful where you spray and only do it with a cold motor) where your vacuum junctions are and spray where your intake gaskets are and if there is a leak the engine will race when you spray over the leak.
If its not a leak then you can take the vacuum hose off of the brake master cylinder and take a can of sea foam and suck it up while the engine is running you may have to give it a little gas to keep it running but that will clean out everything.

there are various stuff that would reason this. it ought to o.k. be an O2 sensor. that's what it became into on my Civic. there's no actual way for each physique to respond to your question over the information superhighway. the perfect we are in a position to do is say "it must be this, or it must be that....". the only actual thank you to confirm they actually reason is to bodily look at your automobile. Are there any codes (examine Engine mild on)? If there is, take it to a important factors save and that they likely can examine the code, and then that would enable you comprehend what the subjects are.

Could be spark plugs, but my sister had one that had an extremely dirty/clogged exhaust manifold, that was barely letting any exhaust escape. It was doing the same thing.
Those things gum up with carbon like you wouldn't believe.
