S models for the Porsche and the standard engine for the M3.

The Boxster S is more fuel efficient, with a 19/27 MPG rating. The M3 has a 16/24 MPG rating. The base Caymans and Boxsters have a highway rating of over 30 MPG.

The M3 has a better engine but the Boxster will have more balanced handling. I've driven a few M3's and was not impressed. See the link below for a comparison on Yahoo! Autos.
