i just had my 10th knee surgery on Monday. There is nothing to worry about. They will take you into preop and put some stuff on your ankle and wrap it in a towel so that it stays clean for the OR. They will put in an IV of fluids and wheel you into the OR. Once you are in there they move you one to the operating table and put hear monitors on you. Then they put this stuff in your IV that will make you feel like you are going to float away it will make you VERY sleepy, dont fight it just let yourself fall asleep. Then while you are asleep they will put something in your mouth so that your tongue will stay out of the way of your throat, they more than likely will not put a tube down your throat you will be breathing on your own the whole time. then you will have your surgery and wake up in the recovery room. You will be groggy and out of it for a while, they will keep you in the recovery room until you eat and drink something so that they can make sure you do not throw up. And if it is an out patient surgery they will send you home.

Don't worry - it'll be fine. I've had 11 hand surgeries and never a problem. They'll give you something to relax before surgery and the next thing you know, you'll be in the recovery room! You might have some pain but they'll give you something for it. Probably a big bandage to protect it. Just don't hit it, you'll never forget it!

make sure u have the doctor have that special equipment that lets them know if the anesthia wears off so u can feel everything in the surgery but cant do anytthing becus ur paralyzed

and also, sleep and relax. spend time with ur people and im sure the surgery will go fine, if u have a good doctor whom u trust and love. otherwise, u can jsut SUE if anything goes wrong.

yay!

It's just a finger, I'm sure it's not going to kill you. Surgery isn't as bad, you won't feel much and it's common to be worried. Once its over, you'll be happy as can be.
Try having a brain tumor removed and they tell you there is a 75% chance you will die. I lived thru that, you'll be FINE

It will be fine. I had surgery on my finger too. The worst part is the anticipation and the idea of letting go. But it really is no big deal. You will be out and will wake up before you know it.

I have had to have many surgeries for a variety of reasons. It is never easy, but take a big breath, walk in with your head held high and tell yourself, 'I can do this.' It's called courage, and it'll make you feel really good about yourself.

Best wishes for a great recovery!

Well think of it this way... if you dont get the surgery done then your finger wont get better. and that it will only benefit you, and you'll be in good hands with those doctors, they didnt go to school for nothing. GOOD LUCK! GET WELL SOON!

I think you'll be fine, and I'm sure your finger will be fine too. Believe me, it could be a lot worse. If it makes you feel any better, my girlfriend had a growth removed from her throat a few months ago, and she's made a full recovery.

worry not, you may even enjoy the experience in a weird way, until the painkillers wear off... it sounds weird, but you have to check it out! especially if you are getting put under, so cool to just go to sleep and wake up changed.
