The original Clerks came out in 1994 and was a live action B&W shot film.
In 1995 a TV show called Clerks that was loosly based on the the characters of the film was produced, but wasn't funny at all and failed miserably.
Clerks:The Animated Series was shown for two episodes in 2000 and proved to be a little too quirky for prime time.
Clerks 2 was released a couple of weeks ago and was a live action shoot but this time in color.
Clerks:Sell Out in in production and will be an animated direct to video movie using the same animation style as the animated TV show had. It's premise will be that of Kevin Smith's life, where Dante and Randal shoot a low budget film in the stores that they work in.

No. Clerks was done in black and white due to budget restraints. Clerks 2 is a live actions movie with the same cast from the first and a much bigger budget.
