Most of it is right time right place. However I used to work for the American Embassy in Germany and loved my job there. It took one whole year of bombarding them with resumes (two a month) to finally get a position with them. I was trained in all sorts of fields and loved every bit of my job. Unfortunately Time did not permit for me to finish my degree while I was there so I had to post pone my job to finish my degree and go back to where I love it best with more money and benefits (love the power of education).
It does take a lot of dedication to achieve what you want. Just stay on top of it and like what you do. The best way to figure out what you like is to try different things. Some times it requires starting off really low in the food chain. You have to build up relationships with people and they will get you places you wan to be.
When you write your resume make sure you adjust it to meet the expectations of HR.

Here is a book that could help you decide what field you might be interested in working in: "What color is your parachute"

Good luck
Greg

I made a phone call. Right time, right place. Guy looked at my resume and hired me on the spot. Easy work, good pay, excellent hours, and weekends off.
