The Trojan Horse was a sneak tactic designed by the Greek forces to move a small strike team into the walled-city of Troy. The large wooden horse was house 16-20 fighters in its belly while the remainder of the forces would move well out of sight of the Trojan scouts. The Trojan Horse, seen as both a gift and a means of apology to both the city and the gods, would be brought into the nigh-impenetrable city of Troy. After a myriad of celebrations that night, the soldiers would emerge from the Horse and open the city gates, allowing the rest of the Grecian army to flood in and destroy the city and the people within its walls.

The two sides were the Greeks and the Trojans.

The opposing sides were the Greeks versus the Trojans. The Greeks pretended to give up the war and leave behind a gift of a giant carving of a horse. In reality the horse was hollow and the Greek soldiers were hid inside. Read Homer's 'The Iliad' for the full story.

I forgot who were the opposing sides but the Trojan Horse was a war tactic. The opposing men led by Achilles (I think) brought a giant wooden horse as a "gift" to their enemies (in reality, there were soldiers camping out in there. Once the people brought the wooden horse inside their city, Achilles and Co. jumped out and fought.
