Not exactly a fair question as it depends on the individual. However, if you are soliciting a general opinion, I would guess doctors as they usually get paid whether or not a patient gets better, while lawyers' fees are usually tied to the outcome of verdicts. The exception would be where the patient's life is in jeopardy, as it is hard for a dead patient to pay a doctor's bill.

(This is not to be taken seriously.)

I would guess the lawyer. The doctor takes an oath to do no harm; that requires a certain amount of personal and professional empathy. Conversely, the lawyer (paricularly a criminal defense attorney) has to maintain a practiced indifference to the sufferings of crime victims in deference to the task of defending his client. That produces a fair amount of apathy, if only in that limited context. Do you disagree?

If you mean apathic, then I would say, lawyer. In my opinion, all they want is to win the case, but all the doctor wants is to heal the patient.
