They slapped the White Sox in the face when they swept them at Chicago. If Chicago had trouble with the Twins at home, how will the White Sox survive at the Metrodome? The Twins have one of the best bullpens in the league with a 4.11 combined ERA are they good enough to make it to the playoffs? How about Jason Bartlett becoming a contributer in both defence and hitting? Jason Tyner robbed a homerun yesterday. The series at Kansas City should be easy, as Kansas City has had struggles this year.

The White Sox will survive the Metrodome when they come up in two weeks. Don't know if you've noticed, but the Twinkies looked pretty bad in losing 4 of 6 to Detroit and Texas in the Homerdome, and Chicago has won 4 of its last 6. It's not good news when you're losing at home when you have a team that is already 8 games under on the road (22-30, vs. Chicago's 29-24 away from The Cell). There's too much talent in Chicago for this team to fold up the tent and let the Twins catch them and pass them.

Chicago's pitching will come around, as Buehrle had a very good start against the Royals on Tuesday night, getting out of his July funk. Garland has been hot, Contreras had some bad luck, and Garcia and Vasquez just need run support.

Minnesota may be hitting .285 as a team, but the White Sox are hitting at .286, even with the dead weight of Brian Anderson. Twins have almost no power in their lineup, with a meager 97 HR's, while the White Sox top the majors at 165, meaning that the Twins have to string together a bunch of hits to manufacture runs, as they don't have anyone that they know besides Morneau who can step up to the plate and clear the bases with one swing. Chicago has 6 hitters with double-digit HR's, 4 over 20, and 2 over 30. Beyond Morneau, there's no one on the Twins with more than 15 HR's and only two in double-digits.

Your pitching has to be there, because you're not producing enough runs. Chicago can win the slugfests, where Minnesota can't. White Sox also have the experience of being there and winning it all, something Minnesota doesn't. When it gets down to crunch time, I'll put my money on the defending champs.

The Twins RULE. That being said, however, I don't think they'll make it into the wildcard and they certainly won't overtake the Tigers. They got lucky to win 1 of 3 from the Tigers at the metrodome last week, then gave up 2 of 3 to the lousy Rangers. Liriano is hurt, Carlos Silva gives me diarrhea, Radke is pitching hurt, and Santana seems to have hit a funk.

The hitting has surprised me, though. Nick Punto? Where the F did he come from? Bartlett, Rabe, Tyner...all these youngsters producing for average. And then Mauer, Morneau and Cuddyer are having their best seasons ever. Hunter is steady, of course, and I'm glad we got rid of the "big free agents" we signed at the beginning of the year and it's about time Lohse went away! I thought if we could trade Lohse for a can of Coke we'd come out ahead.

The Twins are just a little too inconsistant still. Too bad they had such a sh*tty start, otherwise we'd be leading the wildcard spot by probably 5 games at least. Next year with Garza up from the minors we'll have 3 awesome pitchers and hopefully we can pick up another solid #4 starter along with at least one big bat. We should be much better next year.

Gutsy predicion here, but the Twins will overtake the Tigers and win the AL Central. It's amazing what the Twins have done considering the HORRENDOUS start they had...even as late as June they were in Fourth Place, like 15 games out and barely ahead of Kansas City. Just think how far in First they would be if they had not had the poor start. With Liriano and Santana at the front of the Rotation, Rincon and Nathan closing out games, and Mauer, Morneau, and Cuddyer in the middle of the lineup, how can you go wrong?? And lets not forget the amazing defense. For the record, I am a diehard Twins fan so I am not unbiased.

I think the Twins are great but I believe the White Sox will keep them from the Wild Card this season. They have a great young nucleus and should be a contender for the next few years.

twins rock. they have the best catcher the two best left handed pitchers a great first baseman the only shaky thing about the twins are their outfield with all the injuries but tyner, rabe, cuddy, and punto have really stepped their game up an extra level. TWINS GO ALL THE WAY THIS YEAR AND WIN IT NEXT YEAR!!!!!

Second best team in the Central, they will win the AL wild card. No one will pass the Tigers though.
