My monitor turns on and says no output then the screen turns black. It has to be a problem with the computer since I tried a friends monitor that was working on his but it still would not work with mine. Any suggestions?

If a monitor that works on another computer does not work on yours, it is your computer not the monitor.

There is something wrong with the video chip on the mainboard. You should see if this is still on a warranty and return the computer for repair. If it is not under warranty, then buy a video card that uses whatever type slot is available for that - AGP or PCI or PCIe. But first, try to borrow a vid card to be sure that this will work.

Make sure the socket on the back of ur computer`s cabinet where u fit in the the jack of the resolution cord of ur monitor is not faulty...coz generally if there`s a message like that...most likely ur monitor ain`t receiving no graphic information from ur computer...which either happens due to a faulty cord , malfunctioning of either of the jacks or sockets, or there even might be a conflict with ur computers display driver. Make sure your Hardware is fine ....if u find it up n workin ...then it`s definately due to ur display driver. I hope this might help u somehow.

You will have to take that dude into a computer repair place.

If they cannot fix it cheaply............. buy a new one... they are not that expensive. Check out a computer show in your area.

It could be one of many things.......... a corrupted or lost monitor driver or ???. Since you don't have computer software tools to fix it.....
you will have to get your computer checked.

Sounds more like a problem with the video card.. how old is your puter? And, does it have a card, or is it built in?
