Yes, anything that had popularity "back in the days" must be worth something in about 20-30 years from now, so just some advice, Keep it! Probably save it up for 40 Years or more, it'll be worth something, I promise you!

With the release of the Transformers movie 7/4/2007, look for there to be an increase in Transformers merchandise the closer it gets. I'd say they're worth collecting but I'm not sure what kind of value increase they will have in ten years time. If you have any from the first time they were popular - mid 80's - hold on to them; they probably will have greater value because of their age.

Yes, but really only if you enjoy the toys for the play value they offer and not because you're hoping to strike it rich. In the twenty plus years since the original toy made its debut in America, even the most sought after toys from the line have only increased in value by a factor of seventy to eighty (a five-dollar toy may be worth $350 now, but only if it's in mint-sealed-in-box condition). The present values of Transformers toys may remain stable or they may go up in time, but unless you want to spend several hundred dollars to acquire a mint set of G1 toys, you're better of investing elsewhere. I have an original Fortress Maximus that I bought years ago at the Richman Gordman department store in Topeka, KS. It was on sale for $79.99 ($10 off the regular price). I also still have the original box. Based on the condition of the toy and the box, I can put its worth somewhere between $900 and $1000, but that doesn't mean I would get that much were I to sell it. As for the newer Beast Wars toys, they have also increased in value but less so than their G1 counterparts. Again, you're better off investing your money elsewhere. Toy collecting is fun, but don't expect to retire on the money you might get by selling your Transformers 40 years from now.

Ten years might be a little short for them to go up in value much; try thirty. By then, they'll be "nostalgic" toys. The thing you need to do is to keep them in very good condition, preferrably not even unwrapped from their original packaging. That way, any accessories won't be lost, the decals and stickers will be bright and defect-free, and the accompanying information printed on the packaging will be with it. If (and this is the speculative part, because who knows what people will be collecting twenty or thirty years from now) someone is in the market for good condition Transformers, you could potentially make a lot of money off of them, but it's very risky -- I wouldn't go and blow the bank on a bunch of toys expecting to make a million dollars off of them and retire to the South Pacific, because the antiques and collectibles market is very variable and depends a lot on the whimsy of wealthy people. Collect stocks and mutual funds; they may not be as fun to play with, but pay better returns for your investment.

Most likely. The older the transformers doll, the more it's going to be worth. Buy them and don't touch them or take them out of the box. Especially with the new movie coming out, people are going to jump all over them.... don't buy pokemon, that's a dying out fad, but transformers have been around for awhile, and will continue to increase in value.
My boyfriend has about 239840239482309482 transformers dolls, and I LOVE them :)
Some I'm allowed to touch (they're out of the box), but he has sooo many that are still in the box, and are worth some money (but we're too much of a dorks to part with them quite yet lol).

course they will increase in value....toys are different then lets say furniture or plates. their values can vary. I would look into wizard magazine and a mag called preview. These specialize in collecting comics and toys and actually have price lists. Toys are especially valuable if they remained in their packaging. Older transformers still in their box i think would be worth a bit out of the box maybe not as much. Keep them clean and with all the peices.

While electrical devices have been around for about 200 years, transformers have only really been around for about 100. Value depends on demand, and I hate to say it, but I can't imagine people going to a museum to look at an antique transformer, even a genuine Tesla transformer won't draw a paying crowd.
My advice is if you wish to collect them do so, but do it for the fun, not as an investment.

They may be. Their value will most likely increase. However the increase will most likely not be a very substantial one. Only a true collector would be willing to give you the full collectors value. If you are looking for an investment collection I would not recomend Transformers.

all or anything that you feel is worth spending days and money for the sake of collecting can't be so bad. I'm a collector i collect bottles of all kinds and it gets really involved after awhile. oh, by the way i also have a few transformers, and i hope you're wondering about the telephone pole type. so good luck, have fun and you never know what you might find.

It has value only when there are collectors. The condition must be good to fetch a good price. It would be better if the packaging is intact. If it is mass produce, then that series is not worth collecting. Check it out from various auction site or e-store. Get information and reviews on the toys. Or just enter any toy store to check out on the price. Good luck.
