Also, what about limewire? Is it okay to download and offload to my mp3 or do I need to use another program or website? Thanks!

Limewire has spyware bundled with it....

http://www.shareaza.com

it has limewire's network, Gnutella1 inside it, along with others...and it goes about 5 times as fast for me. Remember Limewire and Shareaza are illegal to use to download most of the popular mp3 files. My advice would be to download them and not share them...sharing files is what gets you in trouble...they can't prove you stole them.

And as far as CD's go...CD's are ripped is like being an angel next to Sataan compared to p2p networks. However if the CD says Sony on it anywhere DO NOT put it in your coputer.

Many people use limewire to download music to their mp3 players. I would not advise you in good conscience to do so because it is essence copyright infringement and illegal and too much can get you or depending on your age your parents fined a great deal in compensation.

Ripping music from CDs you have bought yourself is absolutely fine for your own use as long as you do not spread the music around through p2p applications like limewire or copy the CD and distribute or worse yet, sell it.

And otherwise I do not see much harm in borrowing music from your friends and family. Although in essence the concept would be the same it cannot really be called something illegal on such a small scale.

If you own the CD then it is perfectly acceptable to rip the music to MP3 for your own personal use as long as you don't sell it or allow others to download the music from you. As far as Limewire, I would suggest that you stick to purchasing CD's from the store and not stealing music from the net. Most of the Peer to Peer file sharing programs are full of viruses and other nasty junk that you do not want on your computer. Plus stealing music is just wrong. Enjoy the the gadget. Cheers!

If you personally own the CD (or a LEGAL, purchased mp3 download), then it's okay to transfer it to your mp3 player. Anything you get from P2P programs for free are illegal and you could get busted for it. It's not worth the risk when you think of how much it could cost you. Just think... you could download 100,000 songs from iTunes (or other places) for $100,000.

If this is on your guy or woman use, no one will comprehend (ripping CD's) in case you acquire illegally, your ISP would take an interest. The acquire is against the regulation as a results of fact the host internet site has no longer paid the mandatory expenditures for the criminal nicely suited to attend to the track. iTunes can pay those expenditures (out of which the artist get their royalties) and due to this there's a value in keeping with acquire

I have never done it, first of because I am new to computer use, but I know there are copyrights on the CD,s, and those artists have to make a living and continue to entertain us. You may not like my answer but I do not think it is fair to make copies. It's up to you of course but since you asked, this is what I think.
Bye and enjoy the music.
