I forget, but there was a short period where the Lower Kingdom (closer to the NIle) was controlled by the Upper Kingdom (the Sudan area). However, most Egyptian dynasties were not Black, but Semetic (Egyptian). I think that this period that Egypt was controlled by Sudan was between the Old and New Kingdoms and after the invasions by the Hyskos. I'm probably off here, so y'all correct me if ya can....

Considering all the different cultures found in that part of the world (Mediterranean, Mid-Eastern, Asian, African), I don't think anyone can say with any certainty just what the Ancient Egyptians looked like. They may have have a lot more "multi-racial/multi-cultural" families than we see today. So in a short answer to your question... I don't think anyone really can say for sure.

The concensus is that they were not "black" but more closely related to the modern "middle eastern" look.
