I think that more often when you react immediately....usually our reactions are not the best...
is better to think things first. Even if taking too long is also not a good thing, but at least you hurt less people doing nothing than reacting immediately....

of course depends in the circumstances, but in general, i think like that.

Mistakes happen both ways.

Sometime you jump the gun and don't let someone finish waht they're saying, or react spontaneously and instinctively. You don't think things through because you're playing for speed. That's why people say foolish things on game shows quite often. They don't have time to reassess what they're going to say, they just react with the first answer that comes to mind, even though they know it's ludicrous when they actually revevaluate.

Other times, we leave things too long, and then have to react speedily before time runs out. This is the same as with the case above. Or leaving things too long can BE the mistake, e.g. reconciliation with a friend after a silly argument. Sometimes things require an instant reaction to correct the original mistake, so leaving things too long can be a mistake in itself.

I suppose both are responsible for mistakes, but I think reacting immediately is probably the cause of the worst mistakes, e.g crimes of passion, adultery etc - few are thought through. It's when we react on impulse and not cognitive ability and rational thought.

I think it could happen in either case. If you react immediately, you have not thought out your task enough (in some cases). If you wait too long, it may be too late to correct the situation.

Both. It depends on the situation, really. Some things require immediate attention, while others need to simmer for a while and be analyzed. The hard part is figuring out which situation requires which action!
