There are so many different varieties of Goldfish! I like the fantails.. Once I walked through a fish shop, and saw a tank of feeder fish.. I know this is silly, but I bought all of them for under $2.00 . Those were the sweetest gold colored little fish ever.. lived for years and oh my did they grow!!!!!
bet someone went hungry that day.. .

Ryukins are pretty. The tend to be red and white although you can find calicos. The red and white creta a beautiful contrast against green plants.

I have a chocolate veiltail who is gorgeous! I have a store that gets in high quality unusual fish- lucky. She cost me $40 as a baby.

If want cuties look for pearscale- so chubby. Or wakins, lionheads are cute in groups. If you had 3 of them you would need at least a 30 gallon.

A really popular fish is the Black Moor. they tend to be delicate though. The look really nice with a ryukin.

I have always been on the look out for a nice looking panda moor or panda oranda. I almost bought one online for $125 but Paul didn't approve for some reason.

For the most part in is entirely personal preference. Some people like celestials and bubble eyes. They have never grown on me. The short fat Japanese ones have gotten under my skin lately though.

I tend to prefer fish with a lot of finnage and muted colors. I have a chocolate a blue 1 white 1 yellow and a black moor. Other people like the bright ORANGE!!!! Shop around a lot. Find out who has the best stock and when they get fish in. It may take a couple weeks to find a fish you love. Be patient.

Hi,
I am going to presume that you have experience in fish keeping? Just know that goldfish are the 'super poopers' of the fish world and that means you will need to vac the gravel at least 1 x per week...with 25% water changes no less than 2 x's per mth..once your tank is fully cycled....but I would reccomend 1 x per week until then...please use a good de-chlor like seachems prime, also be sure that your filter is rated for at least 2 x's your gal capacity......if your tank is 30 gal make sure your filter is rated for a 60 gal at least.

its a rule of thumb... the most common goldfish is the most hard godfish. London shubunkins and even pearlscales are really fantastic but pearlscales its not so hard .
