My records have been sealed due to domestic violence. I recently lost my actual degree in a fire (Bachelors). I've taken placement tests with an Accounting management agency, was told I couldn't know what I know without a degree. But I need to 'prove' my degree before I can take advanced education classes (wanting to go for a CMA certificate). Any ideas?

Abuser has access to our school files, he can tell if records have been requested. Court order sealed ALL records on me and my kids and forbids me to contact them for our safety. Up until now I had my diploma but now that's gone.

Why not write to the records department of your university and tell them that you need a certified document verifying your graduation. I had to get one to get a teaching job once.

From which institution did you graduate? I am confused by this sealing of records stuff. I know the court can seal court records and transcripts, but how can it seal records from an education institution?

Can you ask for a copy of your college transcript from your college or university? It's your information.

Are you in the United States? If so, can you ask for it via the Freedom of Information Act?

This sounds fishy to me.

Do you have a lawyer who can act on your behalf?

There is no way your records can be sealed. Request an official transcript from your university and it will have the date the degree was completed.

Surely the school you graduated from could certify that you graduated from there.
