If your looking for someone, the list will say completly free, then they say they found the info, but you have to pay. How is that free? Are there any public records in any state?

it is free for a trial period or for limited results
then they advertise a paid one that is "much better"
a trial period sometimes searches it but work show results until you pay for a real one

Tricky... The search is free (which they usually prove they've performed by saying "Found 7 people under that name" or something similar) but the answers and information will cost. As for actual free information sites... most would be government based, which really isn't free considering tax money. The only problem is finding them, since they don't nearly advertise as much as businesses looking for money. It depends on what you need on whether or not it's available... Criminal Records can be worked around and found in some places... Car History - good luck... addresses or telepone #'s try something like www.whitepages.com, which is usually ineffective if the person you're searching for is unlisted.

Yes, but, depends on what you're looking for..
Anyway, if they said it would cost, you probably wouldn't go.
I think that, most of those sites are ripoffs, anyway..
if you're looking for a phone number and you know the person's address, ie, where they live, enter their area code and then 555-1212, it is faster, and, if they have a listed, published phone number, ya have it.. and, the cost is much less than 9.99
