I am a married 35 year old male, and I know this 16 year old girl that is very cute and everything, but I am afraid if I go on Yahoo Voice Chat with her, I could be arrested for being an online predator. I just want to talk to her because she's funny and sweet, it's not like I want to cyber with her or meet up with her in real life or anything. So is it illegal for me to chat with her on Yahoo if it's PURELY in a platonic sense?

Lol Tecnickly speaking it's not ilegal 2 talk 2 children it's illigal 2 talk 2 them with the intent 2 "Groom Them" This means that asking how her school team did lst week at da netball match woudent b any cause 4 worry if u asked wot woz she wearing etc that could b constured as "Grooming" I notice that u had the name Rev_something so I am concluding that u r a clergy man and the girl in question is in your parish! come on now, what kind of mental capacity do you have if your talking to 16 y.o. girl anyway, I think you want to go further but are worried about getting busted, well heres a tip-16 will get you 30. is it worth it, just look for the same thing you find in her, but in an 18 y.o. then you can go as far as you want with out the hassles and worries...is it illegal probably not till explicite stuff comes into play, but why risk it....

I'm not sure about the legalities of this but morally I think that you should discuss this with her parents and your wife. If they are okay with it then e-mail away. My bet is that her parents will tell you to leave her alone and your wife might not be very happy about the entire situation.
Just out of curiosity why don't you find somebody your own age to "chat" with? Wouldn't you have more in common with a peer?

You can talk to anybody you want to, as long as you keep it on the level you are speaking of, ie, platonic, but, if you cross the line, she's likely to be some 40 year old guy with the FBI.. sooooo, think about it.

I bet you could find someone else who is just as funny and sweet. I know you could. Delete her from your buddy list and ignore her. You're 35, you shouldn't have to be told these things!
