Some people thought he hurt it while running to second base, but he said he really felt the pain when an opponent slid into homebase and hit his knee.
He damaged some of the meniscus in his knee, so at least it's not any of the major ligaments. It is supposedly an injury to keep him out 4-to-6 weeks, but, since he is a Catcher, it could take longer. But, if we know Jason, he wants to be out there more than anyone. And we need him!
I love Mirabelli, though!!

Aug - 1: Varitek will have arthroscopic surgery to repair cartilage damage in his knee and he's expected to miss four-to-six weeks.

He is injured and will be out for about a month. He pulled a muscle running by second base the other night against Cleveland.

On injury leave and having Knee surgery. He is on 15 day leave but it will probably last a long time.

Have you been hiding under a rock? He's been injured and needs surgery. He'll be out for 4-6 weeks....OUCH!

He tweaked his knee and now is on the DL and possibly out for the season. They are thinking surgery so out for the season.
