Yes, the sun also exerts gravitational pull on the earth and affects tides. That's why we have spring and neap tides, because of the combined effects of the gravitational pull of the sun and the moon.

That is a good question. The Moon is the main reason for tides. Since it is so close to Earth, it is the main source of gravity. The Moons gravity trys to pull or push the water againt the Earths gravity. Since there are other planets and the Sun, I believe that we would still have tides but no where close to what we have. Hope that answered you question.

Yes but nowhere near as big. The sun and moon effect the tides. The sun less than the moon.

Yes, the Sun also has an effect on the tides, it is just smaller than that of the moon.

No, because the tides are a result of the mutual attraction between the two bodies. Without the moon, it is safe to say live would never have arisen on this planet.

without moon tides are not possible because tides occur because of force of attraction by moon on sea water.

That is almost true but the sun does affect us too. There is a secrete about the moon that most don't realize and that the moon is our meteor deflector. The 1/6 gravity affects the meteors as they come toward us and some are deviated from hitting us.
