My sister is expecting a baby girl and is set on giving her the name "Susan". To me it sounds kind of boring and overused, considering that most of my teachers (who were born in the 60's) are called "Sue". What are some other variations of this name (example Susannah, Susana, Suzanne), which one do you like best, and why? Your opinion is appreciated.

I love the variations of Sanna and Sanne, but would most likely not use either of these myself. If I were to use this name I would most likely use Susanna or Susannah and use Sanna as a nickname. Susanna(h) is underused and lovely in my opinion. Susan is a little to common for me also, also I tend to prefer names with an "a" ending.

Good luck to your sister, at least she is isn't picking an ultra-trendy name which will be dated later. I'm also going to be an aunt for the first time in December.

Maybe your sister has a reason for wanting to go with Susan. What she thinks is far more important than any one of us. Besides, I had a great friend in college named Suzie, short for Susan, so I think it's a fine name, and actually not so common these days!
