If you like C. S. Lewis and George MacDonald, you have probably also read G. K. Chesterton. If not, give him a try. He serves as sort of a bridge between MacDonald (Victorian Age) and C. S. Lewis (Modern).
His Father Brown mystery stories are simply delightful. But he wrote over 100 other books, including fiction, poetry, theology, essays, biography, autobiography . . . . He's British, Catholic, conservative, erudite but witty, personable, and never stuffy (well, rarely).
Probably his best known books on religion are Orthodoxy, Heretics, and The Everlasting Man. C. S. Lewis listed The Everlasting Man among the ten books that were most influential to his thinking.
There's a sort of fan-club website, which is interesting if you wander around in it a bit.

and the Wikipedia article is not all that bad.

Up and coming christian author Pastor Thomas L. Brown, M.S.
He's written a down to earth devotional - Daily Devotional with Pastor Thomas Brown - Volume One and is working on a controversial booklet that summarizes material he presented at a Women Preachers' Empowerment Seminar - What Does the Bible Really Say about Women Preachers?
His teachings are informative, easy to understand & apply to daily life and somewhat humorous.

The notion of a "Christian" author opens the door to many interpretations. I find Jung, Fromm and St. Augustine to be the best of those who write in terms that I find "Christian."
