My laptop used to hibernate and turn off when i shut the lid, but i`ve just noticed it had`nt and its keeping running. Ive tried a few times but it keeps happening, why all of a sudden has it stopped working?? Any help is much appreciated!

2 possible reasons, either because it's August and will not start preparing for hibernation until the end of Autumn. Or because your power options need changing in the control panel. Failing that, I guess it's possible that the switch which identifies the lid being closed is not working properly and needs repairing.

....................so that's 3 reasons then!

Do you have free space? Hibernate require a lot of free space in HD.

Click control panel then click power options if you have it on classic view then click the tab hibernate and enable it.Check all power option settings to.

Nothing hibernates in summer!!
