I'm pretty close with a co-worker of mine. She's great and we have lots in common. The only thing is that she doesn't realize how bossy she can be. By no means do i work FOR her, yet she barks orders as if i do. I do what i can to help her out, but can't stand the thought of her thinking thats what i'm there to do. She's very abrupt, and when another employee told her that she was abrupt, she ran back to me and says, "she just said i'm abrupt! am i abrupt!?". She confides in me so i can't bear to tell her she's extremely bossy and abrupt. Is there anything I can do to nicely tell her how I feel? I'm too nice and have a hard time with confrontation, anyone got any advice?

You had the perfect opportunity when she came running to ask you. Why didn't you tell her yes your abrupt. She asked, didn't she ? Next time she runs to you with something else take the opportunity. Also you need to stop being so nice and non-confrontational. People will only sense that and dump on you more.

Either tell her she can sometimes be abrupt or joke with her and tell her to quit being so bossy.
Next time she does it just tell her really nicely that she has to stop. You realy like her but she has to stop giving you order. There is a way to say it where it won't come out mean.

I have a hard time w/ those things too
when she barks orders do not do them unless she asks nicely,,
or when she is real bossy ask her are you all right you seem really,,,,i dont know upset like u r sick or in pain???
When she asks am I abrupt....say maybe it is the way u said it? I dont know I did not hear u.

Speak up. You missed the opportunity to tell her the truth. Oh well, at this rate someone else will end up telling her something worse than calling her "abrupt."

well you need to reach in her purse and get your balls back in your own sack (or ovaries if that applies) so what if you are nice. that's what's getting you in this situation in the first place. tell her no flat out the next time she tells you to do something. then tell her to suck on you penis or ovaries or whatever. maybe throw a punch or two while you're at it.
