Yes, you can. And a lot of people who dearly love to read often try their hand at it. However, I've also heard that it can be the most severely boring job on the planet.

As for making a living - yes. Think about everything you see in print these days - from cereal boxes to the daily newspaper - everything has to be proof read before it can be released to the public. So yes, there are definitely needs for people in that profession.

Sure. But you have to be good at it, and have the contacts that will bring you the work. Obviously, if you are paid to find mistakes, and fail to find them, your service doesn't have much value to the person hiring/paying for your service.
