I see many people say that marriage should be between a man and a woman. How about if we creat 'gay marriage' and that has the same rights as marriage, but it's called gay marriage so nobody is confused! Would it then be OK with you?

HA! I don't agree with a LOT of marriages, but that doesn't stop people from getting married, now, does it?

the solution is an end to the practice of special treatment for married people period.
WHAT other group gets this privilage .
END IT .
THIS would amke anyone who wants to marry ok with me .you want to waste a day and have a celebretion with friends more power to you .
NO special priviliges should be attached at all .NO auto matic rules to married people period .
ALL partnerships should be defined legaly and not under the umbrella of marriage .

The solution should be left up to the states. I do kinda like your idea about a "G" marriage license. I would have no problems and not be offended if you changed my marriage license to a "S" or "N" marriage license for straight or normal.

What I have a problem with is where do you draw the line for the term marriage? What if someone is into Bestiality and really wants to marry their dog, sheep, horse or gorilla? Amsterdam is debating this issue and I see it as a something not to be debated based upon immorality.

I don't care one way or another --- they could be gay and regular "married" --- what difference does it make? If two people love each other enough to spend the rest of their lives together, they deserve the same legal rights as everyone else. They are still human beings - not apes. This isn't about God. This is about the law - period. It is NOT OUR DECISION TO JUDGE THEM. That will be in the hands of another. I don't know that they'll be judged as badly as a lot of people think anyway. Still, that isn't up to me to figure out either. Just my opinion.

I think we spend far too much time on this. I still feel that who you go to bed with is none of my business. I don't feel that the federal government has any place in deciding who is married. If two guys want to have a wedding let them my only question is who wears the dress?

DEEjay scary huh?

Civil Union versus Marriage. Semantics. Won't be agreed upon because groups will be all up on the 'then we aren't equal' trip and other groups will be on the 'it still says marriage and marriage is sanctified in the Bible' and yada yada.

Good thinking though.

I think it would be derogatory to have one called simply "marriage" and the other called "Gay Marriage", but I agree with your thinking. I think they should either call it something else OR just allow them to have civil unions with the benefits of a legal marriage.

I think gays should be allowed to get married. They could sell their honeymoon videos to finance their divorces.
I think marriage is an archaic notion about property and family lines. With DNA testing and women's suffrage, it's just silly.
However, I am still silly/romantic enough to want the fella I'm with to WANT to marry me. It means he thinks we have future, and he thinks I am too special to turn loose of. I want to marry him, because I can't imagine my life without him, but I don't care if we ever REALLY get married because he's in debt/ill.
It might be nice to inherit his daddy's money.
I think it should be a legal contract just like a real estate deal, and treated like a business deal because that is what it IS!
You want to throw a WEDDING, a PARTY or a RECEPTION, with or without a LEGAL CONTRACT, knock yourself out

I think that you're on to something. It's true that we need to compromise on same-sex marriages. The biggest problem with our country is this "I want it, ME ME ME!" mentality.
Homosexual couples want the same rights as heterosexual couples.
Christians don't want it called marriage.
So, civil unions. Or, call them "commitment ceremonies." It's all about the phrasing. Each group gives a little, both win.
