I think every American should be required to serve 2 years civil service - not necessarily Armed Forces.

Why only men? Why only one year? Why only America? Why only the fit? Why only defense?

Let's draft all the Americans who ran away to Canada during the Viet Nam war and make them serve protecting the southern border.

No. Why should they? they are being told they are 'free' by the government and yet everyone loses a year out of their life to 'serve'. And if women and men should be equal then shouldn't all women be required to do the same?

Gee, does that mean we have to always be at war in order to keep all these bored, useless guys entertained?

If we weren't at war, all the war games and uniforms and tanks and stuff would be awfully expensive.

And all the men would not be contributing to the GNP.

On the other hand, it would keep them busy.

But why not require a year of Boy Scouts?

Absolutely not.....maybe 4 years though....it si a good experience, and makes you grow up to be a man rapidly.....it would be a great experince, and no one could then say they have not been in the military, while the gripe about everything .....and could gripe about something that they new about

I think we should start with the ones that MAKE the wars. Get them to fight their wars, and I bet war disappears...

No.. the military is doing just fine the way they are...

They don't want people to join who don't want to be there.
