I have an LG burner, and sometimes in the middle of burning a movie or CD, the computer will just shut down. Can someone tell me why? Could it be that the burner is too fast for it to handle? If so, is there a speed patch or something you can put on it? I dont know if thats what the problem is, but I don't know why it keeps causing the computer to shut down. I've ruined numerous DVD's and CD's. It's really starting to piss me off! Thanks

Before you burn, there should be a setting to how fast you want it to burn (ie, 52x, 32x, 16x....etc).. Try a lower setting next time, and see if it corrects the problem.

is the whole computer shutting down or the programme just crashing...cos there is a speed choice (if your burner has a fast speed) try setting it to lower as the cache or buffering might be at a lower speed than the burner (could also depend on what ram you have too i suppose)

Does this only happen to older cd's or Dvd's? Some companies used to put a spot in the Dvd's or CD's that if you attempted to copy them the data would show that spot as needing millions of seconds to record it. Regular playing didn'taffect it only recording. Afreind gave me a patch so it would compress the data which would automatically skip this spot since it is blank data but registers as millions of seconds. I don't know where he got it though.

did the burner came with computer? look at specification of the burner-- and find out whether it is compatible with your PC.

You may need to update the driver. Go to LG's website and you should find driver downloads in their support section.
