I read Girl Interrupted by Susanna Kaysen but I thought the movie was a lot better. Usually I think it's the other way around though.

I actually think I liked the movie versions of Lord of the Rings better than the books (the extended versions, though, not the theatrical releases). Tolkien's writing, while good, sometimes gets a bit longwinded.

But I agree, I usually like the books better.

Well, I think its best to see the movie first, or you will be disappointed by the movie.
As for if I've ever liked a movie better than the book... one comes to mind. I actually liked the Lost World by Michael Crichton in movie form better than in book form.

I saw under the tuscan sun and it was better than the book. The book was so boring that I stopped reading it. The movie didn't follow the book particularly well and I liked that version much, much better.

I liked Stand by Me better than the original story, but yeah, usually I like the book better (love the Lemony Snicket books, but didn't care for the movie)

Yeah..when you read the book you can picture in your mind what it should look like..then when you see the movie you are usually very disappointed because it's nothing how you pictured it.
